The Grant

A creative residency for emerging printmaking.

PrintLab is a Pew-funded program at Brandywine Workshop and Archives that brings together eight artists to explore new techniques and technologies in printmaking. Working alongside our master printers, residents experiment with scale, materials, and emerging tools — culminating in exhibitions at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Brandywine.

Program Highlights

What makes PrintLab.

    Eight Artists in Residence

    A cohort of eight artists selected to push the boundaries of contemporary printmaking through dedicated studio time at Brandywine.

    New Tools, New Techniques

    Residents experiment with scale, materials, 3D printers, and laser cutters alongside Brandywine's master printers.

    Independent Panel Selection

    Participating artists are chosen by an independent panel of curators, scholars, and practicing artists.

    Public Exhibitions

    Work created in residence culminates in exhibitions at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) and Brandywine.

    An illustrated catalogue and a series of virtual and in-person programs accompany the residency.
